About the Role

CT Recruitment is supporting a high‑performing 11–16 secondary school in the North West to appoint an outstanding Curriculum Leader of Music.

Key Responsibilities

As Curriculum Leader of Music, you will:

  • Lead the development and delivery of an engaging, ambitious and inclusive Music curriculum
  • Inspire, support and mentor colleagues within the department to secure excellent outcomes
  • Foster a strong culture of creativity, performance and musical appreciation across the school
  • Champion co‑curricular music, including choirs, ensembles, concerts and school productions
  • Use assessment and data effectively to monitor progress and plan intervention, particularly for disadvantaged and SEND students
  • Contribute to whole‑school initiatives, events and celebrations that showcase students’ musical achievements

Person Specification

The successful candidate will have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status and strong subject knowledge in Music
  • A proven track record of excellent classroom practice and improving student outcomes, ideally including GCSE
  • Experience of curriculum planning and, ideally, leading or coordinating a subject area
  • The ability to inspire and motivate students of all abilities, promoting independence, creativity and high aspirations
  • Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills
  • A commitment to inclusive practice and to supporting the progress of all learners, including those with SEND and from disadvantaged backgrounds
  • A genuine passion for education and for creating joyful, memorable musical experiences in and beyond the classroom
