CT Recruitment – Consent to Obtain References and Regulatory Checks
1. Purpose of this Consent
As part of CT Recruitment’s safeguarding, vetting, and recruitment processes for work in education and/or care settings, we are required to verify your professional status, suitability to work with children and/or vulnerable adults, and any relevant regulatory history.
This form explains how we will do this and seeks your explicit consent.
2. Third Parties We May Contact
By signing this form, you authorise CT Recruitment to contact, as appropriate:
- The Teaching Regulation Agency (TRA)
- The Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)
- Previous and current employers
- Professional referees you have provided
- Awarding bodies, training providers, and professional membership organisations
- Any relevant regulatory or professional body responsible for your registration, licence, or conduct
for the purpose of:
- Confirming your professional registration and status
- Checking for any prohibition orders, restrictions, or conditions
- Checking whether you are, or have been, subject to any investigations, sanctions, or fitness‑to‑practise proceedings
- Verifying your employment history, qualifications, and professional conduct
3. Information to Be Requested
You consent to these third parties disclosing to CT Recruitment information including (but not limited to):
- Confirmation of your identity and professional registration details
- Confirmation of your right to work in the UK (where applicable)
- Details of any prohibition orders, interim prohibition orders, or restrictions
- Whether you are currently, or have previously been, subject to regulatory or disciplinary investigation or sanction
- Confirmation of employment dates, job titles, and duties
- Information relating to your conduct, safeguarding concerns, or capability in roles involving children and/or vulnerable adults
4. Legal Basis and Data Protection
CT Recruitment will process your personal data in line with UK data protection law, including the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018.
Our legal bases for processing this information include:
- Legal obligation: to meet safeguarding and safer recruitment requirements.
- Legitimate interests: to assess your suitability for roles we may place you in.
- Explicit consent: for contacting third parties and obtaining information about regulatory or disciplinary matters.
Information obtained will be:
- Used only for recruitment, vetting, safeguarding, and ongoing suitability assessments
- Stored securely and retained in line with our data retention policy
- Shared only with clients and regulators where necessary and lawful
You have rights in relation to your personal data, including the right to request access to the data we hold about you. Details are set out in our Privacy Notice, available on request and via our website.
5. Duration of Consent
This consent will remain valid:
- For the duration of your registration/employment with CT Recruitment, and
- For a reasonable period afterwards, where required to meet legal, safeguarding, or regulatory obligations.
You may withdraw your consent at any time by notifying us in writing. However, withdrawal of consent may affect our ability to place you into roles where these checks are required.
6. Candidate Declaration
I confirm that:
- I have read and understood this consent form.
- I consent to CT Recruitment contacting the third parties listed above (including the Teaching Regulation Agency) to obtain information about my registration status, any prohibition orders, and any current or past investigations or sanctions relating to my professional conduct.
- I consent to those third parties disclosing such information to CT Recruitment for the purposes described in this form.
